"You could have gone in with the saffron rice I brought." he pointed out with a smirk, stealing a glance around the room and spotting a vacated seat on the sofa. Nodding towards it, he steered Kenzi over so they could eat more comfortably, making her take the seat while he hunkered down for a spot on the floor.

"And I am calm." he assured her, both playful and serious at the same time. Setting his plate beside him carefully so it didn't get stepped on, he drew up his knees and folded his arms across them. "Not to mention improving. I couldn't kiss you more than once without my heart rate spiking three weeks ago. I could have pushed it..."

He trailed off, a small spark of heat lighting his dark eyes as he set his drink down so he could pick his plate back up and focus on eating.

"...but we are in public, so..."
