"Really?" asks Jason, brightening. It's rare that he gets asked out for things by anyone other than Allison, as much a product of Jason's own awkwardness when it comes to normal people as his determination to remain aloof, but the invitation brings with it a small, unlooked for rush of happiness.

"Yeah," he says, "We should do that. Even if it's boring." He scrubs a hand through his hair. "For the girls."
