My mother didn't love anyone.

[Her voice isn't edged with mere anger, it's conviction. Conviction and hate, the kind of hate she once reserved for Derek Hale, for his entire pack. It's in her eyes as they grow distant with thought, as she draws a little further into her own head...as her anger makes the wolf restless.]

She was cold, cruel, and a coward. She didn't have honor, much less enough to follow any sort of Code.

[She draws a deep breath, stroking Duchess to calm herself down, then shifts to rest her head on Lydia's shoulder.]

It's one of the reasons I'm going to ask the Admiral if I can change my deal. I changed the Code my family follows, but what about our code of honor? The one that makes hunters run like cowards and end their lives if they're bitten? My mother was unworthy...and when I see Derek again, after it's safe to leave here, I'm going to apologize to him for every bad thing I ever said about him after Victoria died.

[She turns her head briefly, just pressing her nose against Lydia's shoulder for a second, comforted by her scent, then settles her head back down again.]

I get that being a werewolf may not be for everyone...you get bitten by accident, you can't live with it? There's no going back...maybe it's the only way out...but no Argent will ever choose death over this again. A new code of honor to go with the family Code. If a hunter is bitten, they don't get a choice until they've seen their first full moon...until they see if the bite really is a gift or a curse.
