[As Allison emerged from the CES, she was calmer, but no happier. Her shoulders slumped, just a little, her eyes and nose still red and raw looking, and she was pale under it all, the first signs of stippling around the corners of her eyes where capillaries burst from the force of her tears.

And the biggest testament to her sorry state was the fact that Vergil surprised her as she emerged, his unexpected presence actually startling her so she gasped and jumped back a little, hand to her heart as it sped up so suddenly it made her feel a little sick on top of everything.]
