[THE HUNTER AND THE SAMURAI] if love is what you need a soldier i will be

Things were different when she got back to Beacon Hills.

Darrow stayed with her, as did Jason when things got worse. The Nogitsune, the Oni, Stiles...the new scar that joined the others won by the Alpha on the streets of Darrow courtesy of the destruction of Noshiko's last tail. It was through her new skills she'd avoided being skewered completely, and it was everything Jason had been to her that she returned to after Stiles was safe.

She'd sent a letter to the pack after she'd skipped town.

With money she'd stolen from her father's safe, a few of his guns, her bow and some clothes, she'd gone to the only place that felt like home anymore: New York. It made her feel closer to Jason, and it was easier to set herself up. The right fake ID matched her age after her time in Darrow, there were places a girl with a taste for blood could crash without being bothered...and there were plenty of places a vigilante could ply her trade.

Body armor was harder to come by. The motorcycle, not so much. She gained more scars, ran from the cops more often in the beginning, but she was far more careful. Cops were smarter, tech was better--but the gangbangers and drug dealers were easier to scare, too.

As long as no one died, the cops made the cases involving a tiny hooded girl making mince meat of clear cut bad guys pretty much stayed on the bottom of the pile atop the desks of detectives statewide.

And during the day, when she wasn't studying at NYU, Allison was enjoying East Coast autumns, making decent money doing clerical work for a pediatrician, and trying very hard to reclaim the slice of serenity she'd found in Darrow.
